Six Weeks Post-surgery...
At this point in my journey:
- I am back to the gym, working with my personal trainer doing a limited workout routine.
- I have started my physical therapy, working with Therapy Services at LMH Health.
- I am walking, walking, walking. I try to walk from 2-4 miles a day. While Steven was home for trimester break, we walked beyond what I would have done on my own, challenging my own thoughts on what I could do.
- On Saturday, I went to my first yoga class since moving to Lawrence. It was a yoga for beginners class at Bluestem Yoga and I adapted the routine as needed.
The flip side of where I am at? The things that I am now certain, is that I am adjusting to what is a new normal. I am making remarkable progress, however there is still a lot of hurdles to cross before I am back to doing what I was doing. It will be at least another 3 - 4 months before I can ride my bicycle. I have yet to make a long drive. That will change on Saturday as we journey to Winfield for a graduation celebration.
That which I am grateful:
- the many people who provide support along the way. Often, it's the small things that make the biggest difference.
- the skilled medical professionals that provided the necessary surgery that was life changing for me.
- the skilled personal trainer and physical therapist that are walking me through the extended healing process.
- the spiritual connection that carries me through the new and different parts of this healing journey.
- the quiet times that are part of this journey - more so than any other time, the quiet moments have been healing.
Until next time - OH, THE PLACES WE'LL GO AND BEYOND!
